entitled THE INSPIRATION FROM THE PAST IN THE ART OF THE 20TH AND 21ST CENTURIES

The purpose of the Conference is to analyse the 20th and 21st century world art in the search of its inspirational sources in the art to the end of the 18th century, including:
- inspirations of artistic styles and genres,
- inspirations of creative attitudes and artistic outlooks,
- inspirations of artistic workshops and techniques.
The range of topics includes all the fields of the world artistic creativity (painting, sculpture, graphics, photography, new media, architecture and city-planning, design) as well as the subjects of art criticism, theory of art and aesthetics.
The conference will be held in Polish and English.
The post-conference volume will be published in English
We invite to participate in the conference:
- art historians and critics of art,
- aestheticians, anthropologists of culture,
- restorers of art works.
Organizer of the conference: dr Małgorzata Geron (head), prof. Jerzy Malinowski, dr Filip Pręgowski, Malina Barcikowska.
Former conferences: Art from 1905 until 1923 (2005); History of art criticism and art theory (2007); Ugly in fine art. Ugliness, deformation and expression in modern art (2009). The post-conference volumes from the 1st and 2nd conference has been released; the volume including the texts from the 3rd conference is being prepared.
